How do you get rid of Shin Splints? Is there any cream/medicine, or exorcise that helps control or get rid of Shin Splints?
Your shin splints could be cause either by tiny tears in the muscle (delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS), or small fractures in the bone.
Treatment for shin splints consists of rest, icing (although delicious not the cake kind), and some type of NSAID like Advil. So you should stay away from exercise for a while.
It sound like the cause of your case of shin splints may be over training. Once you start feeling better you should take it easier. You might also want to look at your running style. Striking the ground with your heel heavily is a big cause of shin splints; taking too big of a stride can cause you to hit the ground harder with your heel. Make sure you have shoes that provide a lot of cushion on the heel.
Also, I don't know what type of stretching you do before training, but if you're still doing static stretching (picking a position and holding it) then I would recommend that you look at dynamic stretching. A lot of new research has been showing that dynamic stretching is far better that static stretching before exercise; some have even been showing that static stretching decreases performance.
Good luck and hope your legs get feeling better quickly! Is there any cream/medicine, or exorcise that helps control or get rid of Shin Splints?
Shin splints are tiny fractures of the bone. Typically you should stay off your feet for 2 weeks to let them heal. Standard Tylenol will help to dull the pain. Get a little more calcium in your diet
The only way that I have ever heard of to get rid of shin splints is do not do any running at all.
unfortunately not. Ibuprofen is your best bet.
