I sometimes shave ';downstairs'; but I get really painful ingrown hairs that can turn into boils sometimes. Does anybody know of a cream I can put on after I shave to prevent this from happening? I also would like to know of a medicine or cream I can put on to get rid of them after I get them? And NO, I don't want to start waxing. Can someone recommend some type of cream or medicine to get rid of or prevent ingrown hairs?
Ok, I know what you mean about not waxing...I do it and its crazy pain, but I get the results.
I do know that ingrown hairs are difficult to deal with. I think I've tried just about every type of product and here are a few that worked when i did shave.
There's a cream you can use when you are shaving which is called Coochi cream. I know its a wild name, but it has aloe vera in it so it soothes the skin and there aren't any bumps like from the regular shave products. You also want to make sure you use a brand new razor everytime.
Theres also ';bump stopper'; which you can get from walmart or target as well as ';black opal'; from the same places.
Now when I did the waxing I was told that I needed to exfoliate dailly using a wash cloth ';downstairs'; to lift up the dead skin so that the hair can grow in without curling under the skin. And I was introduced to a product called ';ingrown gold'; This is MIRACLE product. Its pricey. I bought it initially in washington state at a spa for around 32 dollars and online I saw it going for a little bit more including shipping. Its an austrailian product, but with daily use once you shave, you have no bumps.
I've also seen this product on ebay. Can someone recommend some type of cream or medicine to get rid of or prevent ingrown hairs?
I use tea tree oil for ingrown hairs on my face and arms, but tea tree oil would probley burn, and feel uncomfortable down below.
maybe try baby oil to sooth the area that has been shaved and see if that helps.
I also ran across this article, below click the link and see if that helps.
good luck
lol, there is this cream, Veet Razera, look for it, it's a really good product,

O i had one once and i had to have surgery on it. I was in pain 3 times a day for a WEEK!!! don't ask!
My bf religiously uses this anti-bump lotion with tea tree oil in it. It's sold in the african american facial section at most drug stores. I should also mention I have the same problem as you and his stuff works good down there ;)
Ok, here it is. I am a white guy, but had a black friend. He used a product called Black Opal. It prevents bumps and ingrown hairs. You should be able to buy it at Wal-Mart or your local drug store. Happy New Year to you!
